Abstract

PURPOSE:To monitor the entire system by detection of waveform distortion due to secular change of an amplifier and light emitting elements checking for variations in the pulse width of an output pulse train. CONSTITUTION:A monitor 4 is composed of a pulse width detection circuit 5 and a discriminator circuit 6. A latch circuit 52 receives outptut signals of a receiver 3 and at the rise, outputs a latch signal to an AND circuit 54, while pulses of a pulse generator circuit 51 are separately output to an up counter 55 and a down counter 56 through the AND circuit 54. The up counter circuit 55 counts the number of pulses being transmitted to detect the expansion range of variations in the pulse width while down counter circuit 56 detects the reduction range of variations in the pulse width. The results of each circuit are output to a discriminator circuit 6. At the fall of the output signals of the receiver 3, the discriminator circuit 6 receives the signals from the counter circuits 55 and 56 to determine whether they are in the allowable values set.
