Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a particular spot of a shadow mask or a fluorescent surface from being damaged by a method wherein, when a soiled spot on the second grid surface is cleaned by discharging a diffusion electron current, the diffusion electron current is deflected using a deflection yoke. CONSTITUTION:Voltage at about 400V which is higher than that for practical use is applied to the second grid of a cathode ray tube treated with aging and voltage at about 5KV which is lower than that for practical use to electrodes of the third grid onward in order to produce a diffusion electron current for cleaning the soiled surface of the second grid. At this time, a deflection yoke is allowed to operate as in the case of practical use so that each electron constituting the diffusion electron current. In so doing, particular spots on the surface of a shadow mask or a fluorescent surface are made immune from continuous electronic shocks, so that the predetermined spots are prevented from being damaged.
