Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the potential of a counter electrode stable and to improve response characteristics of cell and uneven display, by forming a plurality of counter electrodes with electrode material with different potential and shortening the counter electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A counter electrode 11 is attached on an opposing base 6, and two different types of electrode members 12, 13 are formed on it. For example, EC film such as WO3 is used as the member 12 and an invasion type electrode member such as Sb2O3 is used for the member 13. The members 12, 13 are constituted by being shortened via the electrode 11, and a cell constitution is made through the potential difference of the two. The member 12 made of the EC film such as WO3 reaches an equilibrium potential state determined through the combination with other member 13, the potential of the counter electrode is always stably operated even during the drive of ON/OFF of the cell and the problems of deterioration in response speed and uneven display can be solved.
