Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce semiconductor laser coherence by a method wherein a transistor is added to a driving circuit and a semiconductor laser is modulated by a signal composed of a modulating signal and a high frequency signal. CONSTITUTION:The collectors of two transistors (TR)6 and TR9 are combinedly connected to a semiconductor laser 1. The TR6 base is supplied with a high frequency signal of 50MHz-20GHz from a high frequency input terminal 7. The TR9 base is supplied with a transmitted signal from the signal input terminal 2. The combined TR6 and TR9 collectors are then connected to TR8 supplying a DC bias current to the laser 1. A high frequency pulse is imposed on the current wave running in the laser 1 so that the laser 1 oscillation spectrum is multiplied, laser coherence is reduced, and therefore laser coherence caused deterioration of the signal wave form is reduced.
