Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the remaining amt. of CN- down to about 1/10 that in the prior art by adding an oxidizing agent to waste water contg. CN- then removing the excess oxidizing agent by reduction neutralization thence adding ferrous sulfate powder thereto and settling away the CN groups as insoluble complex.
CONSTITUTION: After factory waste water contg. CN- thickly is made alkaline, an oxizing agent (e.g.; NAClO) is added thereto and CN- is removed by the formulasIand II. Thereafter, the excess NAClO is once removed, and the pH of the liquid is made about 5, that is, slightly acidic. The above-described NaClO is neutralized away by adding a reducing agent (e.g.; Na2SO3). Next, FeSO4 is charged in the state of powder into the waste water having undergone the neutralization of the oxidizing agent to allow CN- to settle as iron cyano complex, that is, Fe4[Fe(CN)6]8, thence this settled complex is removed.
