Abstract
PURPOSE:To regenerate a halftone at the output side and to record a high- quality picture, by performing the frequency compensated reply and the optimum coding according to the characteristics of an input picture after removing the texture concentration level of a picture signal which is read by scanning an original picture. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal read by the scanning of a scanner 1 of the transmitter side A is multivalue-quantized by a quantizer 3 after removing the texture concentration level through an analog compensating circuit 2. The output of the quantizer 3 is applied to a switch 6 and supplied to a logical circuit 7 after being branched into two systems. One of these two systems is applied to a MODEM17 via a editing circuit 8, a high picture element densifying and dither process circuit 10, etc. While the other system is applied to the MODEM17 via a concentration compensating circuit 12, an MTF compensating circuit 13, an editing circuit 8, etc. and then receives the frequency compensation response and the optimum coding to be transmitted to a transmission line NET. This picture signal is processed through a region discriminating circuit 20, a high picture element densifying process circuit 24, etc. of the receiver side to regenerate a halftone. Thus a high-quality picture is recorded at a block 25.
