Abstract
PURPOSE:To record a picture with high quality and high video density, by making data-compression so as to obtain the optimized coding which sufficiently express the intermediate tone acocrding to the characteristic of an original picture. CONSTITUTION:An original picture is read in at a scanner 1 at a transmission side A, and it is quantized at a quantizer 3 after an analog background correction 2. Next, a signal in contrast picture area picked up via a switch 6 and a logical circuit 7 is applied to an edition circuit 8 for required picture editing process. Further, the signal is in high video element density dither processing 10, and binarized information is applied to a dither encoder 11 for coding and output. On the other hand, a signal from a transmission line NET is received at a reception side, the signal is discriminated at an area discrimination circuit 20 via a MODEM18, and when the video element reaches a contrast video area with a dither decoder 21, decoding is made and recorded on a plotter 25 as the signal in high video element density.
