Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate environmental pollution by a method wherein a solvent is wiped off in the outlet side of a washing chamber by a cascade washing method for washing the running metal strip with the solvent and the solvent gas generated in the washing chamber and a drying chamber is recovered and liquefied to prevent leakage of the solvent or the solvent gas. CONSTITUTION:The continuously running metal strip 1 is repeatedly washed with a solvent injected from a recirculation liquid spray nozzle 5 in washing chambers 2a-2d and the surface thereof is wiped off by a wringer roll 6. The solvent flowed into each cascade tank 4 from each washing chamber is sent to a distillator 13 and a decanter 15 through a cascade downflow pipe 9 to be converted to the regenerated liquid. Said regenerated liquid is stored in a storage chamber 2d and injected from a regenerated liquid and a make-up liquid spray nozzle 12. The strip 1 is further treated by a drying gas from a gas nozzle 31 in a drying chamber 3 to remove the solvent therefrom by drying. In this time, the harmful solvent gas is generated in each washing chamber and the chamber 3 but the inside of each chamber is held under negative pressure by the action of a solvent gas liquefying treatment apparatus as well as said solvent gas is sucked to the outside thereof and liquefied to be recovered into a tank 17.
