Abstract

PURPOSE:To switch smoothly a radar to transmission and receiving, by providing plural latching type circulators between an antenna, a transmitter, and a receiver and switching circulators other than the first-stage one to the dummy side and the opposite side synthronously with transmission and receiving. CONSTITUTION:Transmission radio waves 4 are transmitted to an observation object 5 from a transmitter 1 through a transmission/receiving changeover switch 2 and an antenna 3, and a reflection echo 6 is received by a receiver 7. The transmission/receiving changeover switch 2 consists of latching type circulators 8, 9, and 11 and dummys 10 and 12. The transmission signal from the transmitter 1 goes in the direction of an arrow in the circulator 8 and is led to the antenna 3, and the signal is flowed in directions of solid-line arrows in circulators 9 and 11, and all of the leakage signal are absorbed by dummys 10 and 12. Just before the received reflection echo 6 reaches the circulator 8, circulators 9 and 11 are switched to flow the signal is directions of dotted-line arrows, and the reflection echo 6 is led to the receiver. Thus, the radar is switched surely to transmission and receiving.
