791,431. Pulse radar; duplex radio signalling. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 23, 1954 [Jan. 14, 1954], No. 1080/54. Drawings to Specification. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (7). In a pulse radar range-measuring system, very close range operation is effected by maintaining the receiver continuously operative so as to be sensitive to an echo pulse received during the transmission of a transmitted pulse. To prevent interference from the transmitter, the receiver is coupled to the common transmitting and receiving aerial through a known directional coupler, so that energy passing from the transmitter towards the aerial does not appreciably affect the receiver, but incoming reflected signals are passed to the receiver. The short-range system may be combined with a conventional long-range system.
