PURPOSE:To equalize the sensitivity to red rust and skin to measure the degree of rust removal, by using the light of a wavelength band which has a high absorptivity for rust independently of kinds of iron rust and is constant approximately. CONSTITUTION:The light from a light source 4 is reflected diffusely by a material 3 to be measured consisting of a steel plate or the like, and the scattering light including a positive reflection light is condensed by a condenser lens and is converted to an electric signal proportional to the quantity of the reflection light by a photodetector 5. This electric signal is subjected to processings such as amplification by an electric processing circuit 7 and is displayed on a display device 8. Since approximately 550mm. wavelength has the same reflection factor for red rust and skin, a green light emitting diode is used as the light source 4. This wavelength band is used to measure the degree of rust removal for red rust and skin by the shot blast quantity.
