Abstract

PURPOSE: A mixture of nonbituminous coal and bituminous coal is combined with a binder to adjust its characteristics appropriately, formed and heat treated to produce a carbon material for desulfurization with high adsorbability and high mechanical strength.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of nonbituminous coal with more than 5wt% bituminous coal is crushed and mixed with a binder such as pitch. Thus, among its physical properties, its average reflection rate is adjusted to 0.3W0.8; GP-MF, to 0W100DDPM; CSM to 0.1/2 or 1 and RI, to 10W90. The resultant coal composition is granulated by an appropriate method and heat treated. Further, when necessary, it is activated with steam. Since the resultant carbon material is high in mechanical strength, it is resistant to pulverization, even when adsorption and regeneration are repeated and suitably used as a desulfurizer for a waste gas.
