Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyester composition with improved transparency and moldability, prepd. by incorporating titanium dioxide of a specified particle size in a polyester.
CONSTITUTION: 100W700ppm, based on the wt. of a polyester, titanium dioxide of particle size 50W150mm is incorporated. With particle size of the titanium dioxide >150mm, only a small amt. of the added titanium dioxide greatly deteriorates transparency because of its original matting effect, while the size of 50mm or less, the polymer is deteriorated in whiteness because of the deteriorated whiteness of the titanium dioxide, and the titanium dioxide is lowered in handlability and increasingly agglomerates in the polymer because it is liable to agglomerate. With a content of the titanium dioxide <100ppm, the polymer has good transparency but is deteriorated in spinnability and film moldability, while with more than 700ppm, it has good moldability but is inferior in transparency.
