Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound in high yield, economically in an industrial scale, without emission of ill odor and toxic by-products, by adding an aromatic nitro compound to an aromatic primary amino compound, and reacting the mixture with an OH-containing organic compound and CO in the presence of a composite catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: The titled compound is prepared by reacting the raw material composed mainly of an aromatic primary amino compound (e.g. aniline) and containing an aromatic nitro compound (e.g. nitrobenzene) with an organic compound containing at least one OH group (e.g. methanol) and CO in the presence of a catalyst system composed of a main catalyst comprising supported paleadium or a mixture of a palladium compound and a porous substance and a cocatalyst comprising a non-metal halide.
EFFECT: There is no problems of the generation of slurry reaction liquid, and the recovery of the palladium catalyst and the separation and purification of the produced urethane can be carried out easily.
