Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover an unreacted substance, a catalyst, etc. through separation, and to obtain an organic carbonate, by reacting an organic halogenated compound with an alcohol, an alkali metal carbonate, and carbon dioxide in the presence of a catalyst, followed by special treatment.
CONSTITUTION: An organic halogenated compound is reacted with an alcohol, an alkali metal carbonate, and carbon dioxide gas in the presence of a catalyst (e.g., triethylamine) to give a slurry of reaction solution, from which a solid substance (e.g., allyltriethylammonium chloride) is separated. The residuary liquid substance is evoporated so that an unreacted organic halogenated compound is separated. The resulting remaining substances are separated to give an organic carbonate [e.g., diethylene glycol bis(allylcarbonate)]. Since the separating operation is carried out without using water, the recovery of every ingredient is effected with ease and the problem of corrosion will not occur.
