Abstract

PURPOSE:To give a colored image, which is stable for a long time, to a soft contact lens, by arranging the soft contact lens and a silk screen provided with a pattern on an exposure plate and by coating a dyeing liquid on them and by irradiating ultraviolet rays to them to cause coloring components to act only upon a marked part. CONSTITUTION:A swelled soft contact lens and a silk screen, which is provided with a pattern of required characters, symbols or the like and is brought contact with this soft contact lens, are superposed on an exposure plate. After a dyeing liquid is coated on them, ultraviolet rays are irradiated to them. It is desirable that the soft contact lens which is immersed preliminarily in 0.9% physiological salt solution and becomes the saturated swell state is used. In respect to the silk screen, it is desirable that a silk screen which is provided with a pattern corresponding to required characters, symbols or the like and is produced with materials such as nylon and Tetron is used; and pertinent characters, symbols or the like are provided on the part of the silk screen, which is brought into contact with the lens, in accordance with the number of treatable lenses, thereby dyeing a large quantity of lenses at a time.
