The present invention relates to a method for dyeing characters, symbols, etc. onto soft contact lenses. Adding characters, symbols, etc. to soft contact lenses is considered an effective means to meet the following requirements. In other words, (1) to distinguish between front and back when they absorb moisture and become soft, (2) to distinguish between left and right lenses, and (3) to clearly indicate lens specifications to facilitate classification and organization. It is. However, soft contact lenses have the property of absorbing moisture and cannot be engraved like hard contact lenses, and it is extremely difficult to add fine letters and symbols to them. As a method known in the prior art, a coupler material that causes a color-forming reaction with a diazo component is copolymerized with a hydrophilic monomer such as 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, so that it is incorporated into contact lens materials in advance. After molding the lens, it is immersed in a diazo aqueous solution to cause a coupling reaction to develop color and provide the desired mark. Since it has to be given, it causes discoloration of the lens due to long-term use. (2) It has drawbacks such as the color of the mark becoming lighter after long-term use. The present invention solves the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art, and (1)
The coloring component is applied only to the required mark area.
(2) Gives a colored image that is stable for a long period of time. (3) To provide a method for dyeing characters and symbols on soft contact lenses, which is easy to operate and allows a large amount of processing to be carried out at the same time. In the present invention, a swollen soft contact lens is placed between an exposure plate and a silk screen provided with molds of required characters, symbols, etc., so that the molds of the required characters, symbols, etc. are in contact with the soft contact lens. A method for dyeing letters, symbols, etc. on soft contact lenses, which is characterized by applying a dyeing solution to at least the mold after placing the mold, and then fixing the dyeing solution by irradiating the silk screen with ultraviolet rays. configured. That is, as shown in FIG. 1, a swollen soft contact lens 2 is placed on an exposure plate 1,
A silk screen 4 provided with a pattern 3 of required characters, symbols, etc. is placed thereon. At this time, the soft contact lenses 2 are aligned so that the mold 3 provided on the silk screen 4 matches the position where characters, symbols, etc. are to be added, and the soft contact lenses 2 are placed in an overlapping manner. Note that, as shown in the figure, the soft contact lens 2 is in a swollen state, so it becomes soft and flat. Next, as shown in FIG. 2, after applying the dyeing liquid 6 to the mold 3 of at least the required characters, symbols, etc., the dyeing liquid 6 is irradiated with ultraviolet light from above the silk screen 4 using the exposure device 5. Fix 6.
When the soft contact lens 2 is taken out, as shown in FIG. 3, the surface of the soft contact lens 2 is dyed with desired characters, symbols, etc. In addition, the number "71" on the surface of the soft contact lens in FIG. 3 indicates an example of the dyeing mode of characters, symbols, etc. in the present invention, and there is no particular limitation on the characters and symbols to be dyed. characters,
Any symbol etc. is fine. Soft contact lenses are pre-prepared with 0.9
% physiological saline to bring it into a saturated swollen state. Silk screens are best made of materials such as nylon or Tetron, which have molds that correspond to the required characters and symbols, and the corresponding characters and symbols are printed on the part that touches the lenses, depending on the number of lenses that can be processed. By providing molds such as symbols, it is possible to dye a large amount at once. The dyeing liquid to be used may be prepared from a dye that firmly adheres to the lens (component) by ultraviolet irradiation, and a dyeing liquid comprising a soluble vat dye is particularly suitable. The most convenient method for applying the dyeing solution is to apply it from above the silk screen, and it is sufficient that the dyeing solution reaches the lens surface uniformly, and a normal coating method can be used. The ultraviolet rays may be irradiated from above the silk screen for a short time using an exposure device, for example, using an ultraviolet lamp (350 to 380 nm). The method of the present invention is simple and easy to operate, and provides products with excellent safety and durability. Example A 4% aqueous solution of leucoester of CIVat BLack I was prepared and used as a staining solution. Ethylene glycol monomethacrylate 99.5% by weight, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate 0.5%
A contact lens is molded from a material made by polymerizing % by weight. Boil this in 0.9% physiological saline for 90 minutes,
It was brought into a saturated swollen state. Next, the saturated swollen lens is shaped into the desired character,
A silk screen (made of nylon) with a mold corresponding to the symbol, etc. was prepared, and after gluing it to match the mold, it was placed on an exposure plate. Incidentally, after placing the saturated swollen lens on the exposure plate, a silk screen provided with a mold corresponding to desired characters, symbols, etc. may be placed overlappingly in contact with the lens. The dye solution prepared above was applied onto the silk screen by hand spraying. Next, irradiation was performed for 5 minutes from above the silk screen using a 0.8W ultraviolet lamp at 355 nm. As a result, we were able to confirm that the intended characters and symbols were dyed onto the lens in a clear blue color. Confirmation of safety and durability Regarding safety, soft contact lenses made based on the examples and untreated soft contact lenses made of the same material were tested at 90%.
After boiling for a minute, we conducted an eluate test specified by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and as a result, both passed all standards, and there were no eluates due to dyeing of letters, symbols, etc., and no significant differences between the two. I couldn't help it. Regarding durability, durability tests were conducted on the following items for the same soft contact lenses, and no particular problems were found.
