Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an ingot for sheets of superior elongation and flangeability in production of an ingot for cold-rolled sheets by decreasing the Si and solAl in steel and electromagnetically stirring the molten steel near the surface thereof in a mold. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel of <=0.12% C, <=0.01% Si, 0.06-0.50% Mn, <=0.020% P, S, unavoidable impurities, <=0.003% solAl, and 0.0050-0.0205% free oxygen is continuously cast. Here, the inclusions in the steel are made into a spherical shape of <= serveral mum diameter in the composition contg. a trace atm. of Al2O3 in an MnO-SiO2 type base by the limitation of Si and solAl. Thereby, the inclusions are made harmless to flange cracking and the steel of good stretchability wherein said inclusions are dispersed is obtained. However, this leads to a decrese in deoxidizing power, an increase in the concn. of free oxygen, production of air bubbles consisting essentially of CO on the surface of the ingot and formation of surface flaws by rolling. Thereupon, the solidification interface of the surface of the molten steel 4 in the mold is reflowed in an arrow direction by a linear motor 3 in the long side mold, whereby the production of pinhole nuclei is suppressed.
