Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a synthetic resin lens having high refractive indices, and superior impact resistance and workability for spectacles by copolymeizing three kinds of specific monomers. CONSTITUTION:An UV absorbing agent and a polymn. initiator are added to a mixture of (A) 10-30 equiv.% 1st monomer [e.g.; 2,2'-bis(4-methacroyloxyethoxy)propane]expressed by the formulaI[R1 is H, methyl; (n+m) is 0-8], (B) 1-15 equiv.% 2nd monomer (e.g.,; polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate) expressed by the formula II [R2 is the formulas III, IV, V, etc. (n1 is 6-20; n2, n3 are 3-20)], and (C) 55-89 equiv.% radical polymerizable 3rd polymer (of which the refractive index as a homopolymer is >=1.55) (e.g.; chlorostyrene) and the mixture is injected into the space of prescribed curvature constituted of two sheets of glass molds and a gasket, and is polymerized by heating, whereby a synthetic resin lens is obtained.
