Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent air-fuel ratio of suction mixture in a suction jet type internal combustion engine having a variable vanturi type carbureter from changing at the time of EGR, by arranging a slow system fuel and a recirculating gas at different positions.
CONSTITUTION: A jet communication passage 26 is indented in a flank 2' in which suction ports 4, 4' of a cylinder head 2 open. Exhaust gas recirculating passages 29 are in comunication with the jet communication passage 26 via sub- return control valve 30. When a first cylinder A1 is at the suction stroke, mixture in a second cylinder suction port 4' is jetted into the first cylinder A1 through the communication passage 26 due to the pressure difference between the cylinders A1, A2. When exhaust gas is introduced into the suction system through the jet communication passage 26, jets to the suction ports from jet openings 27, 27' are accelerated by the recirculating exhaust gas to accelerate the combustion rate.
