Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the rotation and defection of the arc of a nonconsumable electrode and to maintain arc length constant by supplying large electric current to a filler wire during conduction of electric current for pilot arc to the nonconsumable electrode.
CONSTITUTION: The electric current from a DC power source is supplied to a non-consumable electrode 6 by comparing the signal from a pulse generating circuit 10 for nonconsumable electrode and the output of a current detector 16 in a comparing amplifier circuit 17, and controlling the same to constant current by means of a current control element 15 for noncomsumable electrode. A resistance for pilot arc conducts the min current to sustain the pilot arc when the element 15 is broken. The arc length is controlled by operating an AVC circuit 20 by means of the current signal for AVC of the circuit 19 and moving a nozzle 5 vertically. On the other hand, the set current of a current controlling circuit 11 for filler wire is supplied to a filler wire 8 by comparing the signal of a pulse generating circuit 18 for filler wire and the difference of the output voltage in a comparing amplifier circuit 13, and controlling the same to constant voltage with a control element 12.
