Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an optically modulated pulse directly from a change of pressure, by receiving the reflected light from a diaphragm by an optical fiber trains provided in the direction rectangular to the reflected light and selecting previously the optical fiber trains so as to have different optical lengths. CONSTITUTION:The reflected light beams 1a and 2a are generated as shown by chart B when incident optical pulse trains 1 and 2 shown by chart A are made incident to an optical coupler LCT at the area near an optical transmission fiber LFB. The lateral axes of charts A and B show the time (t) respectively, and a diaphragm is displaced by the sound pressure caused by the voice, etc. The light sent from a condenser lens LNS1 is irradiated at the area shown by a broken line. Accordingly the incident position of a fiber array FBA is varied. As a delay line LD is connected to the array FBA, the optical pulses coming back to the coupler LCT are turned to 1b and 2b. Then the position of the optical pulse is modulated by the displacement of a diaphragm DIF due to a voice, and the modulated position of the optical pulse is demodulated at the receiver side to extract the voice.
