Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively obtain always uniform charging potential, by detecting the surface potential of a photoreceptor before uniform charging, substiuting this for a control function set in advance, and controlling a charger by this calculated result. CONSTITUTION:A surface potential detector 9 is installed between a primary charger 2 controlled with a grid voltage and a cleaner 7, surface potentials before and after uniform charging are detected, and this is digitized with an A/D converter 10 to feed it to a controller 11. A control function represented by the equation (1) is stored in the controller 11, where surface potentials before and after uniform charging are Vso, Vs, respectively; grid voltage is Vg; and A, B, C are constants, so the grid voltage Vg is calculated from the above mentioned surface potentials Vso, Vs on the basis of the equation (1), and the charger 2 is controlled through the converter 13, thus permitting the charger to be effectively controlled from the first copying sheet, and uniform charging potential to be secured.
