Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure degree of deterioration of a high-temperature member in passing of time and a non-destructive manner, by measuring the difference in an electrical resistance between a member of an actual equipment and a material to be heated, which is to undergo the same thermal hysteresis as the actual equipment member and not to undergo the stress. CONSTITUTION:A constant current I is made to pass through a power supply terminal 6 to an actual equipment member 1 and also to a heated material 2 which is held at the same temperature and for the same period of time as the actual equipment member, and potential difference E1 and E2 are measured by a potentiometer 4 at measuring terminals 5. Differences from the pre-operation initial values E01 and E02, that is, E1-E01=DELTAE1 and E2-E02=DELTAE2, are sought, and when a variable from the initial values becomes as DELTAE1/E01-DELTAE2/E02<0, it is to be determined to have entered the acceleration creep region. As it is possible, in this manner, to measure the creep life of a metallic material, which is to be used under a high temperature and a high stress, in a non-destructive manner, occurrence of breakage can be prevented and the time for replacement of parts can be foreseen, and therefore, the period of operation shutdown can be shortened.
