CONSTITUTION:On the basis of a fault signal from a device constituting a multiprocessor system which performs subsystem-by-subsystem division operation, a prepared constitution control program is read in service processor 5a and 5b in the multiprocessor system to exercise constitution control by individually provided means in accordance with the read control program. When the service processor 5a or 5b receives the fault signal during division operation, the service processor compress the states of its own subsystem and the other subsystem before instruction execution with instructions of the constitution control program, thereby modifying the constitution on the basis of the result.
