Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate an ill effect of the contraction of volume, etc. caused during hardening, by using a material which can be polymerized and hardened by the electron beam or ultraviolet rays as a binder. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material is obtained by compounding the magnetic powder plus a sensitizer when necessary to a binder composed of a material such as epoxy acrylate, polyester acrylate, polyurethane acrylate, etc. which can be polymerized and hardened by the electron beams or ultraviolet rays. Such coating material is coated to a substrate and then made to pass within an orientating device having the magnetic field in the vertical direction to give an orientation to the magnetic matter in the direction vertical to the surface of a medium. The electron beams or ultraviolet rays are irradiated to the coating material concurrently with or after the orientation of the magnetic matter to harden the coated film.
