Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve solvent resistance and to eliminate tape deformation, by obtaining a magnetic recording medium which has magnetic layers by a radiation setting method with a fast setting speed. CONSTITUTION:A base is coated with magnetic paint, containing magnetic powder and a binder containing a radiation-sensitive compound, such as reactive acryl oligomer and oligoacrylate, having >=2 double bonds, and then irradiated with ionizing radiation, such as electron beams, neutron beams and gamma rays, to cause radical reaction, thus obtaining a magnetic layer of cross-linking structure. Further, a magnetic layer differing coercive force is provided on it.
