Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to maintain a prescribed foaming magnification, by introducing preliminarily foamed thermoplastic particles continuously into a cylindrical container, measuring the foaming magnification automatically and continuously, and automatically controlling the factors operating the foaming magnification. CONSTITUTION:Preliminarily foamed thermoplastic particles are introduced into a cylindrical container 21 through a screen 22 and made to continuously go down to a weighing section on the bottom through a space between a circumferential edge of a distributing board 25 and the cylinder's wall. The preliminarily foamed particles pass through a discharge gate 26 and are discharged to outside of the measuring device through a discharge hole 37. While equilibrating volume of supply to the top of the cylindrical container 21 with volume of discharge from the bottom, weights of the preliminarily foamed particles are measured in turn. As variation of this weight changes the foaming magnification, volume of steam supply to a preliminary foamer has to be changed, or volume of supply of raw material particles to the preliminary foamer has to be changed, so that the foaming magnification becomes a prescribed foaming magnification.
