Abstract
PURPOSE:To control the combustion of a continuous annealing furnace efficiently by igniting radiant tubes of only the zones of the number corresponding to the required quantity of heat in the heating zone of the continuous annealing furnace provided with the suction type radiant tubes. CONSTITUTION:The heating furnace 1 of a continuous annealing furnace provided with suction type radiant tubes 2 in which gaseous fuel and air for combustion are sucked by pulling discharge air with a blower 11 is divided to >=2 zones. The minimum required number of zones corresponding to the quantity of heat required for heating of a strip is calculated with a computer 9 in accordance with the prescribed equations. The radiant tubes for these required zones are ignited by opening shutoff valves 10 and those for the remaining zones are extinguished by closing the valves 10. In the ignited zones, fuel flow rate controlling valves and discharge air flow controlling valves 6 are controlled in such a way that the temps. detected with respective temp. detectors 4 attain the set temps. of the respective zones set in a furnace temp. setter 5.
