Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to easily cope with variations in the amount of inflow while using a tank of a fixed capacity by a method wherein the period of time required for one cycle of aeration, precipitation and supernatant discharge is shortened and the number of cycles is increased when treating a large amount of inflow, in a process of treating sewage by an activated sludge through continuous inflow and discharge.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of cycle patterns are provided, and the treatment of sewage is controlled by selecting a suitable one of the cycles through a control panel 10 provided on the outside of a tank 1. The cycle patterns include a 6hr cycle consisting in conducting aeration for 4.5hr, precipitation for 1hr and supernatant discharge for 0.5hr, as shown in pattern diagram (a), and a 3hr cycle consisting in conducting aeration for 1.5hr, precipitation for 1hr and supernatant discharge for 0.5hr, as shown in pattern diagram (b). In the 3hr cycle, an upper marginal volume V' of the interior of the tank 1 can be utilized two times as much as that in the case of the 6hr cycle and, accordingly, sewage can be treated even when the inflow amount is doubled.
