Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition for a solventless varnish having long pot-life even at a high temperature and excellent dispersion stability, and giving a uniform cured product, by compounding a bromine-containing epoxy resin which is liquid at normal temperature, and a latent curing agent having a specific particle size and solid at normal temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by compounding (A) a bromine-containing liquid epoxy resin having a bromine-content of 16W32wt% and a specific gravity of 1.33W1.52 at 25°C and obtained e.g. from bisphenol A, tetrabromobisphenol A, etc. and epichlorohydrin, etc. and (B) a latent curing agent (excluding dicyanodiamide) solid at normal temperature having a melting point of ≥80°C and a specific gravity of 1.25W1.52 at 25°C and finely crushed to an average particle diameter of ≤50μm. The compounding is carried out, e.g. by using a three-roll mill. When the component (B) is, e.g. diaminodiphenylsulfone, the amount of the component (B) is usually about 1/4 mol per 1 epoxy equivalent of the component (A).
