Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compounds efficiently with suppressed new formation of high boiling substances in preparing the titled two compounds from acetic ester of 1,4- butanediol simultaneously, by circulating the high-boiling substances with the unreacted reaction raw material through the reaction zone.
CONSTITUTION: Acetic ester of 1,4-butanediol (a raw material), water and the circulating solution from the fourth distilling column (H) are fed to the first reaction zone (A) consisting of a solid acid catalyst and reacted. The reaction product is then fed to the firstWthe third distilling columns (C), (D) and (F) one after another to distill off the water and acetic acid in the first distilling column (C), the unreacted reaction raw material in the second distilling column (D) and 1,4-butanediol in the third distilling column (F) (high-boiling separating column) respectively. The bottoms (high-boiling substances) of the third distilling column (F) in an amount of 1.0W50wt% based on the total concentration are added to the distillate (unreacted reaction raw material) from the second distilling column (D), and the resultant mixture is then fed to the second reaction zone (G) and reacted in the presence of a solid acid catalyst. The reaction product is then fed to the fourth distilling column (H) to separate tetrahydrofuran from the distillate, and the bottoms (the unreacted reaction raw material and high-boiling substances) are circulated through the first reaction zone (A).
