Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The glyceroglycolipid compound of formula I[R1 is H or benzyl; Y is H, acetyl or group of formula II (R2 is H or acetyl)l.
EXAMPLE: 1-O-(3,4,6-Tri-O-benzyl-α-D-manopyranosyl)-2,3-di-O-tetradecyl-glycerol.
USE: A biochemical reagent. It is also useful as an antigen for producing specific antibody, or as an antimetabolic agent.
PROCESS: The reaction of the compound of formula III (Bn is benzyl; Ac is acetyl; X is halogen) with 1,2-di-O-tetradecylglycerol in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent and a silver compound and/or a mercury compound gives a compound of formula IV (R is H or acetyl), which is made to react with the compound of formula III to obtain a compound of formulaIwherein R1=Bn and Y= Ac. The compound can be converted to another compound of formulaIwherein R1=Bn and Y-H by deacetylation, and further to the compound of formulaI wherein R1=Y=H by catalytic reduction.
