Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The glyceroglycolipid compound of formulaI(R1 is H or benzyl; R2 is H or acetyl; Y is H or group formula II).
EXAMPLE: 1-O-(2,4-Di-O-benzyl-3,6-di-O-acetyl-α-D-mannopyranosyl)-2,3-di-O-tetradecylglycerol.
USE: A biochemical reagent. It is also useful as an antigen for producing specific antibody, or as an antimetabolic agent.
PROCESS: The objective compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting the compound of formula III (Bn is benzyl; Ac is acetyl; X is halogen) with 1,2-di-O- tetradecylglycerol in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent and a silver compound and/or a mercury compound, reacting the resultant compound of formula IV (R is H or acetyl) with the compound of formula V, and if necessary, subjecting the product to deacetylation and catalytic reduction.
