Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a manufacturing method for a thin-film magnetic head which has desired head gap work precision while using a work protective film of a desired material. CONSTITUTION:The tip part 2 of an upper magnetic core is formed in an inverted-triangle shape at a finishing position 4', and a pattern is so determined that the tip part 2 of the upper magnetic core appearing in a finished end surface increases in width toward the finishing positon 4', thus forming a thin- film core. During following polishing work, the width of the finished end surface of the core tip part of the upper magnetic core part formed as mentioned above is measured to confirm a prescribed finishing position, so that a work protective film 5 need not be transparent and the need for work to make a mark for finishing visible is eliminated.
