Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an optical changeover device of simple mutual changingover of main optical transmission lines and by-pass optical transmission lines and a low loss by interposing a junction cartridge and a cartridge holder mounted with a by-pass cartridge between the main optical transmission lines parted at required places. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge holder A is disposed between optical fiber cables 1 and 1' which are the main optical transmission lines parted at required places, and the end parts of the optical fibers 2, 2' of the cables 1, 1' are coupled to an optical connector N. For example, in the case of connecting only one unit of a terminal device E, a juncion cartridge B and a by-pass cartridge C are mounted to the holder A. The optical fiber 2 is connected to the by-pass optical fiber 7 of the terminal device E through a connector N1, an optical fiber 9, a connector N2, an optical fiber 5, and a connector N3, and the by-pass optical fiber 8 of the E to the optical fiber 2' through a connector N4. Thereby, the optical changeover device of simple mutual changingover between the main optical transmission lines and the by-pass optical transmission lines and a low loss is obtained.
