Abstract
PURPOSE:To uniformly cool steel strips in the widthwise direction by a method in which when steel strips are continuously annealed, plural cooling tubes are provided in the widthwise direction of the steel strips, and the flow rate of cooling air in each cooling tube is controlled in accordance with the results of measured temperatures for the outlet side of the steel strips. CONSTITUTION:While continuously and vertically feeding steel strips 1 in a cooling zone, a cooling medium, e.g., air, is passed through a cooling tube 2 to the steel strips 1 gradually from the upper point to the lower point of the transformation point A1, where the cooling tube 2 is provided in 4 groups in the widthwise direction of the steel strips 1 so that the different portions in the widthwise direction of the steel strip are cooled. The temperature in the widthwise direction of the steel strips 1 are measured for each of 4 groups by a temperature measuring device 4 at the outlet side throat 8' for cooled steel strips, and on the basis of the results, signals 1-4 from a steel strip temperature indicating regulator 5 are supplied to temperature regulators 6-1-6-4 provided to the cooling tubes. By this, the opening degree of said valve is adjusted, the flow rate of the cooling air is controlled, and the widthwise direction of the steel strips 1 is therefore cooled uniformly.
