Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide functions of by-pass mode and loop back mode with one piece of optical fiber by wavelength multiplexing techniques by using two light emitting sources having different wavelengths. CONSTITUTION:In the normal time the light signal of a wavelength lambda1 received from an optical fiber 21 passes through a photoswitch 24 via a connector 23, then through a couplig and branching circuit 25, and is converted to an electric signal by an opoto/electric converter 26. This signal is received in a reception signal terminal 31. The transimission signal emitted from a transmission signal terminal 32 is converted to the light signal of the wavelength lambda1 by an electro/optic converter 28 and is transmitted to the lower stream station by an optical fiber 22 via the circuit 25. In the loop back time when the fiber 21 disconnects, the transmission side is the same as that in the normal time, but the reception side receives the light signal of a wavelength lambda2 from the lower stream station and this signal is received by the terminal 31 via the circuits 25, 27. In the by-pass mode time, said mode is taken by the switch 24 of 2:2.
