Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the recovery for incapability of the recognition and correction for an erroneous reading, by obtaining the candidate characters and the similarity information through the preprocess recognition to the reading information and then carrying out the editing and decision with these information. CONSTITUTION:The character information such as a slip, etc. is optically detected through a photoelectric converting part 1 and then led to a preprocess circuit 3 via a quantizing circuit 2 to receive a preprocess recognition. The similarity is calculated at the circuit 3 for a character pattern to a candidate character to obtain the data of the 1st and 2nd candidate characters. These candidate character data are written into a memory 4 along with the similarity data. While the recognition result data stored in the memory 4 is read in accordance with each character and supplied to an editing and decision part 5.
