Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a wide frequency property and a proper resonance property and thus realize an output of a complicated sound, by supporting the periphery of the plane-type diaphragm consisting of the porous flat plate containing the additional mass body around it via a free edge in a speaker. CONSTITUTION:The skin member 3 having a high Young's modulus is adhered on both sides of the honeycomb member 2 to form a plane-type diaphragm. The additional mass 4 is provided around the diaphragm, and the diaphragm is supported with the fixed ring 7 of the frame 6 and via the free edge 5. Then the diaphragm is driven vertically by the driving system. In a low frequency range, the plane diaphragm and the mass 4 are supported by the free edge 5 to perform a piston movement, and the mass 4 turns to a fixed point substantially in the middle and high frequency ranges. Thus the diaphragm has a standing wave vibration. Accordingly, the plane diaphragm has a positive split vibration to produce a sound having a complicated resonance property. Furthermore the plane diaphragm has a light weight and high rigidity to ensure a high efficiency of radiation for the middle and high tones with a proper resonance property.
