Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a miniaturization as well as reducing the power consumption, by using an LED for a light source with the element of a LED distributed in correspondence to the sensor photodetector and then driving only a light emitting element near the photodetector which is being driven. CONSTITUTION:At the light source part 7 and on the substrate which is formed by changing the driving circuit into a hybrid, a block is formed with e.g. 8 units of LED, and the shift registers 73-1-73-n plus the LED driving circuits 74-1-74-n are provided in each block. The LED glows, for instance, 4 units only, and the state of glowing is shifted successively from right to left. This shift synchronizes with the photodetector of the image sensor, and the photodetector corresponding nearly to the center position of the LED glowing is driven. In such way, the length is shortened for the optical path from the LED and D through the image sensor, and at the same time the LED is driven in the minimum necessary number. As a result, the size of the device is minimized, at the same time reducing greatly the power consumption.
