Abstract
PURPOSE:To give an accurate and stable electric charge to ink particles of varied size by setting the timing and the level of a charged voltage while detecting the phase and level of charge of the particles varied in the size. CONSTITUTION:When exciting voltage generators 7-9a apply an exciting voltage to an electrostrictive vibrator 2 in different amplitudes at each cycle, ink particles of two sizes are formed. First, proper charge phase of the ink particles is detected in various sizes. To achieve this, a retrieving charge generator 12 is actuated to apply a negative voltage to a charge electrode 3 corresponding to phase detecting pulses to detect the charge volume of each ink particle to memory. Then, with a switching to a recording charge controlling circuit 11, a charge voltage is applied to an electrode 3 in such a manner as to be adjustable in the level as a whole. The application timing is taken with the output S4 from a phase setting circuit while the voltage is set detecting the ink particles passing through a charge detecting electrode 6C.
