Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the garnet epitaxial film having specific film composition, an easy-magnetization axis vertical to the surface thereof and low coercive force and introducing no distortion, by making the film grow on the substrate of the 110 nonmagnetic garnet. CONSTITUTION:The liquid-phase epitaxial film of the garnet having the composition expressed by a formula is made to grow on the substrate of the 110 nonmagnetic garnet expressed by R3Ga5O12 (where R is Gd, Dy or Ho or a combination thereof). The film thus obtained has the easy-magnetization axis vertical to the surface of the film which is essential to a double-conductor pattern bubble element, magnetism-transfer and light-reading elements having a broad band of frequency, and a laser-beam polarizing element which can be driven with high frequency. In addition, the coercive force thereof is low and no distortion is introduced into the film, while the magnetic anisotropy required can be generated mainly by growth- inducing anisotropy.
