Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the coercive force and generate the necessary magnetic anisotropy, by preparing the titled film grown on a nonmagnetic garnet substrate in which the direction perpendicular to the film surface is an easily magnetizable axis from a specific composition containing Y, a rare earth element, B, Fe and Ga.
CONSTITUTION: The composition of a garnet liquid-phase epitaxial substrate, which is grown from a flux containing PbO and Bi2O3 essentially on a (110) nonmagnetic garnet substrate and the direction perpendicular to the film surface is an easily magnetizable axis is as follows: The film composition of formulaI (0<W≤2.0; 0≤x≤1.7; 0.05≤y≤0.7; 0.5≤z≤1.45; R is one or a combination of plural ones selected from La, Ho, Sm, Eu, Gd, Er and Yb; R' is one or a combination of two selected from Tm and Lu). The garnet liquid-phase epitaxial film is capable of forming the necessary magnetic anisotropy mainly by the growth inductive anisotropy without introducing a strain into the film.
