Abstract

PURPOSE: A composite fiber having improved electric conductivity and interfacial bond strength without causing the spinning trouble, wherein the contact-interface between an electrically conductive polymer part comprising conductive fine powder and a monconductive polymer part is complicated and entangled with each other.
CONSTITUTION: A fiber-forming polymer, e.g. an acrylonitrile (co)polymer, is mixed with an electrically conductive fine powder, e.g. carbon black, to form an electrically conductive polymer. The resulting polymer and a nonconductive polymer free from the powder are dissolved to give two types of spinning solutions, which are extruded through a spinneret having a partition plate with a cut groove and joined at the tip of the spinneret to form the objective composite fiber, wherein the joined interface 3 between the side-by-side conductive part 1 and nonconductive part 2 is complicated and entangled with each other. The part 1 is preferably 60% or less of the fiber cross section for increasing the tensile strength and elongation of the fiber.
