Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable measurement of navigating speed of a ship with high accuracy without being influenced by depth of the sea and also simplify its construction to make ease the installation of the device to the ship by the measurement using reflection of the electric wave on the surface of the sea. CONSTITUTION:The electric wave from the transmitter 1 is transmitted to the surface of the sea through transmission and reception change-over switch 2, measuring direction change-over switch 3, bow-stern direction transmission and reception antennas 4. The reflected wave from the surface of the sea is transmitted to receiver 5 through antenna 4. The signals from transmitter 1, receiver 5 and the pitching angle meter 7 which measures the oscillation angle in bow-stern direction are supplied to the reception processor 6. Then, the speed in bow-stern direction is calculated from the frequency difference between the transmitted and the received waves and the oscillation angle. Then it is averaged by the integrator 9 and transmitted to output device 11.
