Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently manufacture α-type hemihydrate gypsum of stable quality by drying α-type hemihydrate gypsum with a circulating primary drying gas and further drying it with a secondary drying gas of a temp. lower than that of the primary gas.
CONSTITUTION: Cakes of α-type hemihydrate gypsum are fed to drying pipe 3 through conveyor 1 and air lock valve 2, and dried with a primary dyring gas of 160W170°C and 0.35W0.4 humidity fed through heater 7 and blower 6. The dried cakes are then introduced into separator 4 and separated into the gas and gypsum. The gas is circulated to pipe 3 through return pipe 5. On the other hand, the gypsum is allowed to flow into mixer 8 attached to the bottom of separator 4, and in mixer 8 it is dried by mixing with a secondary drying gas of 70W90°C and 0.05W 0.1 humidity and the temp. of which is lower than that of the primary gas fed from gas feed pipe 9 through blower 11 and heater 12. The dried α-type hemihydrate gypsum is recovered through exhaust pipe 10 and bag filter 13.
