Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve detection accuracy of the ultrasonic flaw for mold materials and improve molten slag resistance by further adding specific amounts of rare earth elements and Fe to a Cu alloy mold for continuous casting contg. Cr, Ti, Mg and Zr. CONSTITUTION:Further, one or two or more kinds of Ce, Y, and Mischmetal of 0.005-0.05% and Fe at >=0.03% are added, to a Cu alloy contg. 0.35-0.7% Cr, 0.02-0.15% Ti, 0.02-2% Mg, and 0.04-0.2% Zr. When a mold for continuous casting is made of this Cu alloy, the accuracy of detection of fine flaws is improved in ultrasonic flaw detection on account of the fining of crystal grain sizes by the Fe addition. The addition of Ce, Y, Mischmetal, etc. results in increasing of molten slag corrosion resistance and improving of the operating efficiency of the mold.
