Abstract

PURPOSE: To make process and device simple by omitting venting process in mounting the body to be treated into a capsule, preheating this and hot-hydrostatically pressing this.
CONSTITUTION: A body to be treated is loaded into a capsule in the atmosphere or in a gaseous atmosphere of nitrogen, and is preheated to predetermined temperatures, for example, about 1,000W1,500°C without venting and tight closure. Upon ending of the preheating, the capsule is tightly closed immediately without venting the inside air and is subjected to hot hydrostatic pressing. Since the capsule is tightly closed immediately after preheating, about 70W75% of the gas in the inside releases to the outside of the capsule owing to thermal expansion when the capsule is preheated to, for example, about 1,000°C, and if it is tightly closed in that state, the amount of the gas remained therein decreases to about 25W30% that when filled at ordinary temp. This is approximately similar to the case when the capsule is tightly closed under evacuated pressure. Particularly when it is filled in air, the adverse influence owing to oxygen is minimized.
