Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent leakage from a heat pipe when it is operated at high temperature and for many hours by inserting a spherical body into a heat-medium-feeding pipe and by sealing this part with pressure applied from outside.
CONSTITUTION: Terminal 2, from which a heat medium is fed into heat-pipe container 1, has a tapered inner surface. When air is exhausted from the heat-pipe container, steel sphere 3 is kept in steel-sphere storage container 6. After air is exhausted from the heat-pipe container, a heat medium is sealed in it. After this, by operating lever 5, steel sphere 3 is drawn into termial 2. Next, the part of the heat-medium-feeding pipe close to the steel sphere is pressure-sealed by means of pressure rolls 4 and then it is cut. At the time of pressure-sealing, the steel sphere is pushed further toward the heat-pipe container side as the inner diameter of the heat-medium-feeding pipe becomes smaller, so that the steel sphere is brought into close contact with the inner surface of the heat-medium-feeding pipe 2.
